South Coast Central Saetong-yeong Hospital
Saetong-yeong Hospital is located in Tong-yeong City, South Gyeongsang Province.
The city is often called the Napoli of Korea. During the time of the Joseon Dynasty, Tong-yeong was home to the Samdo Naval Control Center, otherwise simply known as the Naval Headquarters.
The area also has about 150 islands near the shoreline.
In addition, as a cultural representative city of Korea, Tong-yeong also boasts a variety of things to eat, see and do.
Population
Tong-yeong City has a total population of 125,152 (2024 data), which includes about 4,600 foreigners (2023 data).
Transportation
Tong-yeong is well-connected to surrounding areas by road. To the north, Goseong District can be reached easily via the Tong-yeong – Daejeon highway. The South Coast Road also passes through Tong-yeong. To the east, Geoje can be reached via Geoje Bridge or New Geoje Bridge on Route 14. Due to the area’s geography, the southern and eastern parts of Tong-yeong have played an important role in the development of shipping lanes between Busan and Yeosu since historical times.
Regional Specialties
More than 70% of Korea’s oysters are produced in Tong-yeong. It is also one of only two places in Korea where mackerel is farmed commercially (the other one being Jeju). In 2018, Tong-yeong became the site of the country’s first successful bluefin tuna farm. Furthermore, the district produces more than 70% of the country’s anchovies. In addition to fish, it also has farms producing a variety of other seafood, such as sea pineapples, clams and seaweed. The district’s high production of seafood has led to such affordable prices that even outside visitors often visit the local live fish market.
